Throughout these uncertain times, many members of our community have risen to the challenge of working in different ways than usual in order to ensure that our lovely children don’t miss out- none more so than the wonderful Mrs-Warren Hardy who today successfully served up her third lot of Christmas dinners! Assisted by Mrs Bridges and Mrs Lang, our competent cook prepared turkey with all of the trimmings for our Years Five and Six children and there were plenty of clean plates by the end of service which was a sign of just how well the meal went down with our diners.

The children all dined in our ‘Nightingale’ classrooms; the temporary rooms constructed in the downstairs hall by Mr Gheorge and Mr Town earlier in the year. The ladies from the office dished up the meals in a socially distanced manner whilst the teachers and teaching assistants from each bubble helped serve and joined the children for lunch. Between year group sittings each room was thoroughly cleaned by the senior leadership team so it was a real team effort. Thanks to everyone for mucking in whilst continuing to keep safe.

Throughout the day more and more classes enjoyed their campfire sessions outside with the Forest Friends team. The children enjoyed hot chocolate and marshmallows and learnt how to sign along to Christmas songs.

In our new outdoor cabin classroom the afternoon saw the final ‘Rock Steady’ workshop taking place where the children rocked out on the band instruments. On the playground next to the cabin the children in  Oak developed their dribbling skills whilst there was plenty of Christmas creativity across the rest of the classes inside.
