It was a day full of pride today at Earls Hall! The morning saw us welcome a host of parents from across Year One who came along to enjoy a curriculum workshop. The parents were given a presentation by Mrs Geach about how the curriculum is organised before joining their children in the classroom in order to take part in a range of activities discussed alongside them. Thank you to everyone who came long and joined in.

Later in the day the children from Year Two enjoyed a fantastic ‘Forest Friends’ session which saw them forage for natural resources in the woods which they then used to make beautiful mobiles which they hung around the log circle. The children worked together in teams  to tie each item onto string independently.

In the evening there were two reasons to celebrate. Mr B, Mr Smith and Mr Dorn were joined by our 2017/18 table tennis team at the Southend Activity Awards evening where they were presented with the prestigious KS2 ‘Team of the Year’ award in recognition of their achievements on a national level. The team were presented with their award by Cllr Richardson and the Mayor of Southend. Afterwards the school was also presented with the award for ‘School of the Year’ which was an amazing acknowledgment of the profile of sport across the school and the many achievements Earls Hall has enjoyed on a local, county and national level throughout the year. Well done to everyone; all of the children who have represented the school and to Mr Smith and Mr Dorn for their amazing coaching.

Meanwhile, a group of children from Year Six wowed a theatre full of adults as they performed an amazing rendition of Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’ at the Palace Theatre. The children performed as part of the ‘Shakespeare’s School Festival’ which saw them take the stage as one of a number of schools from across the town. The children’s performances have been refined over the course of the last few weeks as they have mastered their craft by learning their parts in school. They rehearsed in the afternoon before taking to the stage in the evening. Well done to everyone who took part, we are proud of you!
