It was a busy day at Earls Hall, full of activity! The children in the Foundation Stage spent time throughout the day learning how to attach a clamp to a table before using a hacksaw to cut through pieces of balsa wood. The children were guided by the team on a one to one basis and discussed how to manage risks whilst cutting the wood.

Meanwhile, in Year Two, the children conducted an experiment where they predicted what would happen to paper when dipped in two different coloured dyes. They then conducted their tests to see if their predictions were correct and were amazed when the paper soaked up the red and blue dye, forming a stunning purple when they met in the middle.

In the downstairs hall the sound of music echoed as Phil conducted more ‘Rock Steady’ workshops. the children played the electric and bass guitars, the keyboards, drums or performed vocals whilst playing a range of modern songs. Outside, in the ‘Forest Friends’ area, the children from across Year One investigated the woods in order to create their own Autumn colour charts.

After school the downstairs hall was full  of parents of children from across KS2 who came along to find out more about the calculation strategies taught from Years Three to Six. Mrs Joyce demonstrated a range of strategies and then answered questions about how the parents could support Maths at home. It was the second of two nights focusing on progression from Foundation Stage to Year six. thanks to everyone who came along.
