It was a fantastic and busy end to another week at Earls Hall! The children on the Year Six residential trip spent Thursday visiting historic Warwick Castle. At the castle they watched a tremendous birds of prey show, walked the high castle walls, visited the lower levels of the building which included the dungeons and acted as an audience to an amazing jousting show which told the story of the ‘War of the Roses’. It was a wonderful day which was followed in the evening by a very mature trip to the theatre. The children dressed smartly in order to watch ‘As you Like It’ at the Royal Shakespeare Company and were a credit to the school throughout the production. On the Friday, the children used their knowledge of the previous nights performance as they took part in their own Shakespeare actors workshop which was centred around ‘As you Like It’.

Back in school, the remaining Year six children spent Thursday taking part in a fun Forest Friends session where they developed their circus act skills! The children learnt to juggle using scarves and balls, balanced spinning plates and created huge bubbles.

On Friday, the children from Year Five enjoyed a taster day at Chase High. They were treated to a super Science show and took part in a series of lessons where they got a taste of what secondary school has in store for them. The children all came back to school full of excitement. Thanks to everyone at Chase for putting on such a great day.

In the afternoon, as the children in Year One enjoyed investigating Summers in the past by tasting a ‘Hokey-Pokey’ ice cream, the children in Robins continued to investigate different weathers, inspired by recent thunderstorms, by learning all about tornados. Miss Cracknell showed them how to make a tornado in a bottle by putting two bottles together with a washer in between. They talked about why the water behaves this way and discussed water being made up of tiny droplets called particles. The children enjoyed having a turn shaking the bottle and watching their tornado spin.
