It was a jam packed start to the week today!

The morning started with the children in the KS1 assembly discussing ways to show kindness. Mr B told the children some stories where children had acted in kind and unkind ways to each other with the pupils identifying how it made characters in the stories. They then thought about examples of when they had demonstrated kind behaviour and a group of volunteers shared the positive outcomes of their actions. Later in the KS2 assembly the children congratulated the children who represented the school at the recent borough sports competition on their triumphant win!

Just before lunch the children in Year Two split into their class groups for next year and were joined by the teachers they will have in September. The session gave the children and teachers the opportunity to get to know each other a little better either by sharing a story or by answering questions about next year.

It was a thrilling day for the children from across Year Five as they left Earls Hall for the day and ventured out to visit the nearby Chase Academy. At the senior school the children were greeted by pupils and staff and assembled in the hall to hear all about the school. As the day progressed they had the opportunity to use the IT equipment in the schools suite and even took part in a science experiment where they tested various foods for starch, protein and fat over in the school lab. The day gave the children the opportunity to gain an insight into KS3 lessons and was a really enjoyable experience.

In the afternoon the downstairs hall played host to the latest of our transition meetings. Mrs Cockett gave a presentation to the parents of current Year Two children about the transition into Year Three and the exciting curriculum their children will take part in from September. Mrs Cockett, Mr B and Miss Ellacott then took groups of parents a guided tour of the KS2 classrooms before the parents were joined by the rest of the Year Three team, Miss Neal and Miss Childs, and had the opportunity to introduce themselves over a cup of tea.

Rodney the rabbit once again visited school today and enjoyed a play session with a group of children who had been identified as behaving consistently well. Children from Aspens looked after children from Hedgehogs as they visited Rodney in the ‘Riverside Room’ and acted as role models to the younger children throughout their visit.
