The day started with a splash this morning as children from across our Foundation Stage were joined by a host of parents, all keen to celebrate the terms achievements over at the pool. The children have been taught by Mr Smith throughout the term and today was an opportunity for them to share their progress as they made their way across the width of the pool.
Meanwhile, in Elm, the children used plastic cups to play out dance tunes whilst the children in Oak visited the IT suite and used the laptops to edit interviews they have filmed on ‘Movie Maker’. In Hawks the children were studying the life cycle of humans, plotting the various stages of human development in a chart.
There was much excitement in Dormice as they continued to observe the growth of their butterflies. The children chose to purchase a butterfly house using the profits from their ‘Economic Well Being’ stall and have watched the butterflies develop from eggs to cocoons until they have finally sprouted as beautiful butterflies! The children plotted the development of the butterflies using pasta shapes and paper plates, representing the various stages of the cycle.
At the end of the day Mr B was treated to a storytime session where he read to Rabbits. After school the teachers staff meeting gave them the opportunity to share details about the children they teach with their nxt teacher. They shared academic next steps as well as all the things which make each child unique!
