As days go, today was certainly a different one! Our annual ‘Sports Day’ started off full of promise, with the sun shining and the children all geared up to compete in their houses against each other in a series of events.
As the morning continued, cheered on by visiting classes from Foundation and KS1, the children from KS2 took part in a series of round robin activities where they had to demonstrate their best sporting skills in order to gain points and, despite a bit of drizzle, they all took part beautifully and really tried their best. Later in the morning children from each year group took part in a series of shuttle run relay races before the parents and toddlers also took to the track. As always there was some great sporting talent on show and everyone was having a great time.
By the time we got round to our traditional teachers v Year Six tug of war the heavens were beginning to open and so the whole community moved inside in order to take part in our family picnic! Families pitched up their picnic spots in both halls, over in the Woodland Diner and in any other spare space and there was a great sense of ‘Blitz Spirit’ as our families carried on regardless and decided not to let the dreadful weather ruin their lunch. Thank you to everyone for going with the flow throughout, what turned out to be, a pretty eventful day!
