The final Friday of the school year saw the children take part in their usual weekly ‘Celebration Assemblies’ which, as well as the usual ‘Earls Hall Stars’, reading races and times tables certificates, saw some very special awards being presented. Mr B was joined in the upstairs hall by Mrs Taylor, the wife of the late George Taylor; former chair of governors, who joined us in order to present the awards to children in his name. Every year two children from Year Two are chosen in recognition of qualities other than academic achievement and this years recipients were Isabelle and Riley. Mr B then also presented this years ‘Governor Awards’ to two children from Year Six, again in recognition of qualities other than academic achievement. Well done to Meenu and Jason who were this years recipients. Well done to all recipients in the assemblies, we are proud of you.
Later in the day the children in Year One spent the afternoon in their Year Two class groups. They worked with their new friends to share a fruit fact file they have been writing in English this week and then afterwards they worked in teams to create a newspaper tower that can stand up independently. The session gave the children another opportunity to bond in their new friendship groups.
Meanwhile, upstairs, the children in Willow finished and evaluated their Willow Pattern stitching and were proud of their finished pieces!
