It was a proud morning in school today as the children in Foundation Stage and KS1 came together to celebrate the latest achievements of our ‘Reading Champions’. The children congratulated the children for their efforts to earn bronze, silver, gold and now platinum level as they were presented with their special badges. The children earning gold and platinum level were watched by their proud parents at the back of the hall. Well done children, we are proud of you. At the end of the assembly the children sang ‘The Lion sleeps Tonight’ as Mr B accompanied them on his guitar.

Throughout the assembly Mrs Simpson and Mrs Stoneman were challenged to identify one child each who showed respect by sitting beautifully whilst the other children were congratulated and after assembly these two children were chosen to visit the kitchen where they collected tomatoes to feed to Mr B’s giant African snails. Well done children, we are proud of you.

After assembly the children in the Year One classes took part in an exciting adventure as each class built a boat in their classroom which they all sat in and set sail on an imaginary voyage. Each class noted down what sea creatures they could see, what the weather was like and what events unfolded which they will use later in the week to write a recount of their adventure.

Later in the morning the children in Kestrels investigated capacity by estimating and measuring with water and containers whilst the children in Dormice enjoyed a library session where they browsed through the books before enjoying a story read by Mrs Dalgarno.

In the afternoon Squirrels enjoyed PE on the playground whilst Rabbits created pictures of boats on the laptops and Mr B enjoyed listening to more children read from the Foundation Stage in his office.
