The week continued to be an eventful one as the children in badgers and Woodpeckers were the first classes to begin their swimming lessons in KS1. Miss Bailey taught the children over in the pool, supported by Mrs Henley in the water, and assessed which children could swim with or without armbands. The children demonstrated their current attainment by swimming widths across the pool so that progress can be made from their individual starting points. The children behaved impeccably over in the pool and a great time was enjoyed by all!

Meanwhile, out on the field, the children from Elm took part in a field study where they identified varieties of trees from their leaves, investigated bark and searched for minibeasts both on the grass and under foliage. Plenty of creatures were found and then respectfully put back in their surroundings.

Mr Smith taught the children in Beech PE elsewhere on the field and the children enjoyed a game of rounders where they were joined by Mr B, demonstrating none of Mr Smiths skills! There was more PE taking place in the upstairs hall as the children in Kites were challenged by Mrs Howard to move their bodies in a variety of ways to represent photos on the big screen.

Back inside, the children in Squirrels began creating collage seaside pictures by working in teams whilst down in the downstairs hall Phil from ‘Rock Steady’ worked with groups of KS2 children to develop their skills in a band setting on the various instruments.
