It was an active day in Robins today as the children investigated Karate! Inspired by Rory’s recent gaining of the belt of the week in class, the children showed an interest in finding out more about his pastime and were keen for him to share some of the key moves that he has been learning. They then looked up karate on the interactive whiteboard and tried some of the moves for themselves before making their own belts in the creative area and writing about what they had seen. It was an inspiring afternoon full of fun, thank you Rory for sharing your newly learnt skills with your friends!

Meanwhile, the rain is often described as good weather for ducks but this was certainly put to the test as a group of children from Aspen tended to the animals. Learning the important lesson that we have a responsibility to look after our animals in all weather conditions, the children donned their coats and went outside to clear the pond of leaves, fill up the drinking water and feed the animals. It was a damp session but we were all grateful to the children for showing such resilience!

Upstairs in 6CW the children spent time developing their graphic designs; they are recreating good packaging and have been putting the finishing touches to their plans today. In English, they continued writing their non-chronological reports about rivers and in geography they completed map work to show their understanding of the journey of the River Thames and used photos to explain what happens at key points.
