There was no getting away from the fact that it was a hot day today and so the children stayed inside throughout the day. Although still warmer than usual, the inside of the building was still not as scorching as outside by the time the heat peaked at the end of the afternoon and so the classes kept their blinds down, misted themselves with water at times and some took turns to visit the community room or computer suite where the air conditioning was on. All children drank water really sensibly throughout the day and were beautifully behaved.

In the morning the children in Year Two left the confines of their classrooms in order to take part in a maths hunt around some of the cooler parts of the building. They answered maths questions which resulted in them having to find the answer elsewhere in the school.

As the children in Year One enjoyed playing with the construction toys on the floor and the children in Year Six rehearsed their production of Peter Pan, the animals were being looked after by a group of children from Squirrels in order to make sure that they had enough shade and water to protect them in the heat.

In the afternoon, the downstairs hall grew a magnificent tree made out of coins as members of the PTA committee were assisted by children to arrange all of the coins which had been collected by each class. By the end of the afternoon the tree looked magnificent. Thank you to everyone who gave any shrapnel they had at home. We will let you know how much has been raised by the end of the week.

In the evening, lots of the children from Year Six were accompanied by their parents at a leavers meal held at Zen City. The meal gave the families the chance to spend time together and celebrate their time at Earls Hall.
