Boiling Hot Bands!

It was the hottest day ever recorded in the country today but that didn’t stop our children getting the most out of school. Showing huge amounts of resilience, some of the children cooled off by dipping their feet in water trays or spraying themselves with water mist whilst others took turns to work in air conditioned areas of the school- one of the most bizarre being the Year Five cloakroom! In the afternoon all of the children either enjoyed an ice pole, donated by the team at Tesco Extra Prince Avenue, or an ice lolly bought by the teachers. Thank goodness it seems that we are over the heat wave now but well done to everybody for carrying on with their day as best they could with smiles on their faces.

It was a special day for the team in the Foundation Stage this morning as they welcomed their September 2022 new starters into school. Half a class at a time visited their new rooms in order to familiarise themselves with, what will soon be, their new surroundings and the lovely adults who will be looking after them. The children explored the decking and investigated everything that the rooms had to offer. Once the children were settled, the parents and carers went down to the hall for a cup of tea or water before rejoining the children at the end of the session. It was smashing to see so many new and familiar faces come together, thanks to everyone who made it along.

There were more parents in school in the afternoon as the children who take part in our ‘Rock Steady Workshops’ entertained the adults in a fabulous end of year concert. Hosted in the downstairs hall, each band in turn thrilled the audience by performing and showing off the progress that they had made on their various instruments. For some of the children it was their final concert which made the event that little bit more special. Thanks to Simon from Rock Steady for all of his hard work again this term and well done to all of the performers, we are proud of you!
