It was another busy day at Earls Hall today. The sunny weather ensured that the children in the Foundation Stage enjoyed a fun time outside in the Early Years Garden. They created their own dances and games, played in the sand pit and played pirates using their imagination.

Meanwhile, having collected some eggs from the ducks enclosure, the children in Dormice decided to crack it open in order to see what was inside. Once cracked, Miss Toms helped the children to whisk the eggs and then cook them in order to create a serving of scrambled egg. Never one to turn down a snack, Mr B was summoned in order to taste the dish and the children were thrilled when he gave their efforts a double thumbs up!

There was more food on offer in Year Six as the children investigated the differences and similarities between a modern day syrup cake and one cooked using a WWII recipe. The children assessed the appearance, texture and taste of each cake and summarised their findings in a table.

Elsewhere, upstairs in Kestrels, the children continued to investigate volcanoes and used world atlases in order to identify their locations in various countries.

After school the whole of the school team gathered in the hall in order to take part in a fantastic training session by Chris Davies from ‘Trauma Informed Schools UK’. Supported by over a thousand evidence-based research studies, the training developed the teams understanding of the needs of children who have suffered a trauma whilst also enabling staff to be able to respond effectively to mild to moderate mental health problems. It was a brilliant session, thank you Chris for your time.
