Digestive Dream!

It was a practical and, at times wet and smelly, day in Elm class today as the children investigated the human digestive system in a very hands on way! The children worked in teams in order to mimic the process of digestion using some simple pieces of equipment to represent different parts of our body; following the food from the mouth through to the end of the line. The children all enjoyed the process immensely even if the classroom had a waft of wet biscuits by the end of the lesson!

Meanwhile, in Year Five the children were calculating the area and perimeters of a variety of rectangles whilst the children in Year Three were calculating equivalent fractions.

In Year One the children were creating story maps of ‘The Magic Porridge Pot’ whilst, down the corridor in Year two, the children were role playing key moments from the story ‘The Snail and the Whale’ by Julia Donaldson.

After school the downstairs hall played host to another Karate session with Mr England. The children concentrated really hard throughout the session and followed his directions and instructions beautifully.
