It was a moon themed Monday for the children in Kites today as they set up their own investigations, trying to work out how to create the largest craters! The children used balls, stones and counters in order to test their predictions as to which would have the greatest impact on a tray full of sand when dropped from various measured heights. They worked in groups and recorded their findings and discovered that the objects dropped from the highest point created the largest craters.

Meanwhile, the children in Beech continued to research the rich history of the Earls Hall school itself by interviewing Mr B about the changes that he had discovered by reading the Headteachers logs from days gone by. They asked him a series of questions about how the building itself had changed and developed over time as well as what the logs told him about what a typical day was like for the children who attended the school in the past. The children made notes which they will use in order to write their reports.

As the children in willow created some dramatic group freeze frames in order to choreograph their own sequences of movements, the children in Badgers once again worked with the team from Southend United out on the playground. The children continued to master their dribbling skills, using the soles of their feet to stop and start the ball whilst maneuvering it around a series of obstacles.

After the children in Woodpeckers enjoyed a library session, the KS1 assembly saw the children all enjoy a fun singing session where they sang along to Mr B on his guitar. After school, Mrs Hanshaw led another ‘Puppet Club’ for the younger children where they made a series of sheep finger puppets and a great time was had by all!
