It was another productive day of activities at Earls Hall! The children in Squirrels took to the community room where they learnt all about healthy food choices. They then created their own snacks using some of the foods and chopped, sliced, peeled and grated them before tasting the fruits of their labour!
Meanwhile, as Miss Kelly was joined by groups of children from Robins and Owls out in the animal enclosures, the children from Willow enjoyed a science lesson where they investigated the effect of air resistance on self made paper flying copters. The children tested the copters with different sized wings and with various mass attached, discovering that the larger the wing area, the slower it fell and the more mass that was attached, the quicker it fell.
As the children in Elm developed their understanding of electrical circuits and the children in Owls investigated the life of Mary Seacole, the children in Year Three joined hundreds of other children online in order to take part in the ‘My Future, My Southend’ project where children find out more about careers in various workplaces.
In the evening the upstairs hall played host for our third and final prefect presentation event where the children in 6J who have completed prefect projects were joined by their proud parents, and other family members, to hear all about their achievements and to see them get presented with their special badges. It has been smashing to acknowledge the work that the children have carried out in order to become prefects over the past few days. Thank you to all of the parents who have joined us. Well done children, we are proud of you!
