Chinese New Year!

It was a fantastic day for sport today as a group of children from across Years Three and Four ventured out of school in order to represent Earls Hall at this years Southend wide hockey tournament. The children played brilliantly as a team and finished in a fantastic second place overall having only lost one game, experienced one draw and won three games. Mr Crooks and Mr Gordon came back to school beaming with pride! Well done children, we are proud of you!

Back in school, the whole school took part in an unannounced fire evacuation. The children all left the school via their nearest fire exit and lined up beautifully in their designated areas. It was a fantastic evacuation and the children all behaved so sensibly.

Meanwhile, as the children in Year Four used story plans to write their own version of passages of the Chronicles of Narnia and the children in 6A use3d their DT lesson the measure and cut pieces of wood for their shelters, the children in Sycamore and Beech enjoyed their final swimming lesson of the week. They were able to apply lots of the techniques that they have been taught since Monday in the session before ending the session with a free session involving the floats and toys.

Down in the Foundation stage, the children enjoyed investigating Chinese New Year. Some of the children watched celebrations taking place on the whiteboard and reenacted them. They made their own Chinese dragon out of boxes and material and acted out the festivities in the role play areas.
