The morning started with an exciting, and rather yummy, theme today as Mrs Creak led an assembly in KS1 detailing an opportunity for the children to take part in a ‘Charlie & the Chocolate Factory’ competition.

Mrs Creak told the children all about the ‘Charlie’s Challenge’, part of the Imagination Awards, which all the children from across the school are invited to take part in over the half term break. The competition invites the children to create an invention that nobody has ever thought of before by creating a problem and writing about it in the form of a story, a non-fiction text or in the form of persuasive writing. They could show their problem in an artistic way, such as collage, or create a design of the solution showing how their invention works. Later in the day the children in Year Six held auiditions for their end of year production. Children volunteered to sing and act on the stage to show off their talents to the teachers and their classmates.

Meanwhile, in Elms, the children continued to work on their sewing skills by putting the finishing touches to their felt animal masterpieces whilst in Dormice the children took part in a circle time session. In Sycamore class the children continued to focus on the environment and created posters promoting the saving of the Rainforest.

At the end of the afternoon a group of children who had been recognised as being consistently well behaved went down and visited Rodney the rabbit in the ‘Riverside Room’ . Rodney had seen plenty of visitors throughout the day, especially at lunchtime where lots of the children popped in to say hello to their furry friend.
