The final week of the academic year started with a bang today as the children from Year Three ventured out of school on a fantastic trip to Belchamps. Throughout the day the children had to face a number of challenges and teamwork really was the word of the day. The children wore harnesses and climbed a series of towers, poles and crates, encouraging each other to keep on trying their best. At the end of the afternoon there was the chance to gather around the fire and sing a range of camping songs. It was a great day which all of the children enjoyed.

Meanwhile, back in school, Year One spent the morning in their new Year Two class. The whole morning was about team building and developing perseverance skills. All the children created a book mark using a running stitch and it was great to hear them encourage each other when they got stuck. Children also worked with their new friends to build newspaper towers and create their own islands whilst working in a team. Everyone had a lovely morning and they were very excited about their new classes.

In the afternoon a group of children from Sycamore took part in our latest ‘AOK Club’ mission where they were challenged to wash the school minibus as a surprise for Mr Smith. They worked as a team to make sure tat the bus was sparkling clean and Mr B was delighted to present them with their special badges in recognition of their kindness.

Meanwhile, the downstairs hall played host to two transition meetings for the parents of children moving into Year Five and Six next year. Mrs Creak and Miss Brooker talked through the curriculum for the year before the parents chatted to the teachers over a cup of tea.

Later in the hall the children from the KS1 Steps Ahead performing arts group performed their end of year showcase. The children performed a series of songs which told the story of Oliver and dazzled the audience with their confidence. Well done children, we are proud of you!

In the evening a large group of our Year Six pupils and their parents enjoyed a leavers meal at Zen City. The children were joined by Mr B and the Year Six team where they all enjoyed a Chinese meal before partying the night away!
