Terrific Transition!

There was a theme of transition in school today. The children in our current Year One enjoyed lunch over in the dining hall at lunchtime in preparation for when they eat over there every day as Year Twos in September. They practised lining up at the serving counter, independently collecting their cutlery and pouring their own drinks of water or milk from the jugs on the table. Mrs Warren-Hardy was very impressed with the children’s manners and was pleased to hear lots of children saying please and thank you. Well done children, we are proud of you!

Meanwhile, out in the Forest Friends area out of the front of the school, the children in our current Years Two and Three enjoyed a picnic lunch together. The children in Year Two prepared their own lunches in class throughout the morning and were then joined by the teachers and children from Year Three where they got to know each other a little better in a relaxed atmosphere eating and playing games.

In the afternoon, the downstairs hall played host to our final transition meeting for parents as Mrs Cockett told the parents of next years Year Four all about the curriculum next year. At the end of the session there was the opportunity for the parents to introduce themselves to the teachers over a cup of tea.

After school the teachers held another hand over session where they talked through the children in the widest possible sense with the colleagues who are teaching them in September.
