Our ‘Celebration Assemblies’ are always busy affairs at Earls Hall but today they were even more jam packed than usual as we were joined by a number of special guests. In our morning KS2 assembly the children were joined by our new swimming teacher, Mr Spencer, who came along to congratulate all of the children for their efforts in the recent swimming trials. Even though not every child can be chosen for the gala team, he explained that we were all incredibly proud of the every child who had taken part in the trials and they were all presented with a special certificate in recognition of their hard work. Well done children, we are proud of you!

In both the morning and afternoon assembly we were also joined by Mrs Batchelor, Mum of Jack and Lottie, who came along to help present the school with the items raised by the fundraising activity Jack and Lottie had recently undertaken. The children made their own seed bombs which they sold to children in school, raising an incredible £200 in the process! With the money raised the children purchased some beautiful nature non-fiction books for the children to enjoy, garden resources, bird feeders and most excitingly a nature camera for us to use in school to capture the wildlife on site in action! All of the children were very impressed and excited about the items Jack and Lottie and bought. Well done children, we are proud of you!

In the assemblies we also presented individuals from each class with ‘Earls Hall Stars’ certificates in recognition of their efforts or achievements as well as badges ot our latest reading and times table champions. Well done children, we are proud of you!

There was more excitement in school as we spread the news about gaining the Nurture Uk ‘National Nurturing Schools’ award. Mr Geach explained about the reward to our younger children in assembly whilst Mr B visited each KS2 class in turn to share the award with them.

As the children in Oak took part in their Bikeability session on the playground, the children in Year One gathered in the hall in order to help Mr Cann celebrate his special birthday. Our much loved teacher is thirty today and, having been made a fuss of by his friends in the staffroom at lunchtime, was treated to an extra celebration in the afternoon where children and adults in his year group all enjoyed some cake. Happy birthday Mr Cann!
