It has been a busy couple of days at Earls Hall as we head towards the half term break! Yesterday, the children in Year Three were joined by proud parents and other family members as they took to the upstairs hall in order to perform harvest assemblies. The children read poems, shared art work, sang songs and even included audience participation as the parents took part in a sketching activity. All three assemblies were fantastic. Thanks to all of the family members who came along and well done to the children, we are proud of you!

Meanwhile, the children in Year Six ventured out of school in order to enjoy a day at Duxford Air Museum. The children investigated many different types of aircraft and identified which were from WWII. They tried on RAF uniforms and used their prior knowledge from their enquiry curriculum to relate to what life would have been like for the pilots during the war. They even got to see a spitfire take off!

Down in the Foundation Stage, the children in Robins were interested in Autumn since noticing the leaves changing colours. They learned that pumpkins are ready to pick in Autumn and started exploring real pumpkins. They also learned how to print Autumn leaves to make a picture. After school, the horse riding club saw the children rise and fall around the paddock.

This morning saw lots of activity in the Foundation Stage classes as the children were joined by lots of parents as part of the EYFS curriculum meeting. The morning began with the parents enjoying a presentation in the downstairs hall where they learned more about how the curriculum is organised and how we extend learninbg opportunities through the children’s interests. Afterwards, the parents join3ed the children in class in order to see them in action. It was smashing to see so many parents in school, thank you to everyone who made it along.

Later in the afternoon, as the children in Year Two put the finishing touches to their model castles and the children in Oak researched water pollution in the computer suite, Mr B had the pleasure of ending his day in Hedgehogs. The children joined him in a singing session on the guitar before ending a busy day with a story.
