There was as opportunity for some of the children to venture out into the community this morning as pupils from various classes visited Earls Hall Veterinary Surgery in order to take Rodney the rabbit for his first medical check up.

Children who had been identified as being consistently well behaved yesterday were chosen to accompany Mr B and Mrs Russell on the local trip to the vet. Rodney was safely snuggled in his carry case for the short journey which saw the older Year Four pupils share their knowledge of road safety with their younger friends as they walked down the roads to the surgery.

At the surgery the vets explained to the children the various procedures they were undertaking which included listening to Rodney’s heartbeat and checking his ears for infection. The vets clipped each of Rodney’s claws and then happily answered various questions posed by the children regarding the best ways to care for him.

Meanwhile, back on the playground, Woodpecker children continued to enjoy another ‘Bikeability’ session. The sessions have seen the children grow in confidence whilst riding their bikes under the instructions of the cycling team.

The afternoon saw some members of the ‘Family Council’ meet. At the meeting Mr B gave brief feedback to the council regarding the positive response to the recent ‘Vision & Values’ survey before the council discussed homework and online home activities.

In Badgers the children prepared for the Chinese New Year by making their own cardboard dragons. They cut, folded and scored card to create a flexible body before cutting and sticking card to make a dragons head.
