It was a momentous start to the morning today as we held the first of our special assemblies in order to reward the efforts at home of children in Years Five & Six by presenting with their badges and the title of….Ultimate Reading Champions! The children were presented with the most prestigious badges Earls Hall has to offer having read a remarkable two hundred and fifty times at home since the scheme was once again launched back in September. Watched by proud parents and other family members, the children came up class by class and received a huge round of applause. Thank you to all of the parents for supporting the children’s efforts. Well done children, we are proud of you!

There was more pride on show later in the day as a group of children from KS1 represented the school at this years KS1 borough sports competition which was once again held at Garons. The teams competed in a skipping race, sprint, egg and spoon, space hopper and a relay race and through a mixture of grit, skill and determination got through to the finals of all the races bar one. It was an incredible achievement from our young super athletes and their efforts meant that they finished in sixth place out of fifteen schools. Well done children, we are proud of you!

There were wafts of tasty treats in the upstairs corridor as the children from Year Five developed their culinary skills by creating a fantastic range of homemade salads. The children had previously investigated healthy food options, along with balanced diets, and designed their own salads. Today they prepared the ingredients using a range of techniques and the classrooms were full of children chopping, dicing and slicing before the finished meals were ready to take home.

At the end of the afternoon the downstairs hall was once again full of parents, today from next years Year Three, as they met with Mr Geach to hear all about what is in store for the children from September onwards. After his presentation the parents were joined by Miss Lewis, Mrs Hewitt and Mr Martin as they popped in to introduce themselves. Thanks to everyone who came along to say hello.
