It was the final day of parent partnership within our maths lessons this week as a host of family members of children from Years One and Two came into school to learn alongside the children. At the beginning of the morning, Mrs Bowden and Mrs Howell presented to the parents in the downstairs hall where they explained how we use our progressive maths scheme to support the children to learn through a sequence of lessons. They then joined the children where the children in Year Two were counting in two’s, five’s and ten’s and spotting number patterns and the children in Year One were using a number line to add two numbers. They then extended this to learn how to identify a missing number. It was a busy morning, thanks to everyone who made it along today and indeed every other session this week.

Later in the day, as the children in Oak put the finishing touches to their edible Roman roads, the children in Woodpeckers enjoyed a library session. The children enjoyed browsing for titles and chatted about the reasons behind their choices before sitting down and taking some time to read for pleasure. After school, the downstairs hall once again hosted another popular Karate club.
