As days go you couldn’t find one much busier than today! The morning started with the downstairs hall welcoming a host of parents all eager to see their children presented with their badges and medals as we held the latest of our ‘Reading Champions’ assemblies. Mr B was supported by Mr Geach and Mrs McGavin as the children from across the Foundation stage and KS1 were rewarded for reading at home as often as possible.

Later in the KS2 assembly Mr B explained to the children about the EU referendum being held on Thursday. He shared a map of the EU and explained the fact that the British adults were being given the choice to either stay or leave it. The children thought of times they had been given the opportunity to vote on a decision in order to compare the processes.

Just before lunch a new fence was erected closing the last remaining gap in the perimeter of the site and closing off access to the site via the dining hall and bike sheds.

In the afternoon the downstairs hall was once again the focus of our latest transition meeting as parents of children currently in Year One were given a presentation by Mr Geach about the curriculum and arrangements for their children as they enter Year Two. the parents were able to introduce themselves to their childrens next teachers over a cup of tea and were read personal accounts of some of the pupils experiences of Year Two by the children themselves.

In the evening the downstairs hall was full of parents of children currently in Year Five who were attending the High School Showcase evening. Representatives from a range of senior schools came along to share the strengths of their schools. It was smashing to see some of our former pupils come along to represent their schools and answer questions from both our children and their parents with such pride.
