The children across Year Three love taking part in scientific investigations and so were delighted with this afternoons lesson where they reviewed the progress of their latest controlled experiment.

The children posed the question as to whether a plant would thrive when placed in a variety of conditions, soil water and light. In order to ascertain the answer to their question they have placed three similar marigolds in different ways. One was placed out of sunlight, one was deprived of water and one was placed out of the soil. Compared to a plant which is benefiting of all three, the children are observing changes to the plants over time. This afternoon all of the plants were still surviving although there were subtle differences in the size of the plants which they will continue to monitor over the coming weeks.

It was also an exciting time for the parents of the children currently in Year Three as they gathered in the hall to hear all about the transition into Year Four from the year group leader, Mrs Richardson. After hearing all about the curriculum their children will be enjoying next year they had a chance to introduce themselves to Mrs Richardson and the other teachers in the year group, Mr Martin and Mr Brasted.

Meanwhile, upstairs in the hall, the children in Year Six continued rehearsing their up and coming play, ‘Disneys Peter Pan’. The production looks set to be a stunning final performance from the children and there was a great buzz in the hall as they went through their lines and sang songs.

Out on the field, Mr Smith put Year Five through their paces as they ran short distances on the track before incorporating hurdles onto the straight for them to jump!
