The excitement of the fair taking place tomorrow continued to overwhelm the school and more and more posters appeared on every available of wall space throughout the building as each class advertised their stalls ready for the morning. Children from each class visited other classes to sing them their jingles with some even popping in to see Mrs Russell at ‘Come & Play’ to drum up business and others pausing work for the office ladies as they entertained them. The community room was used throughout the day to cook tasty treats to sell and there was homemade bunting as far as the eye could see everywhere! Tomorrow looks set to be a memorable day!

Meanwhile, throughout the day, the children from the Foundation Stage went on a fun trip to ‘Tropical Wings’. The children enjoyed looking at the animals and took part in a close up minibeast experience. There was the chance to play on the play equipment and visit the butterfly house where they children were amazed by the beauty of the creatures. It was a fantastic day, thanks to all of our adult helpers.

Elsewhere, at Garons, a team of children represented the school at the Southend inter-schools Quad Kids competition. The team took part in a series of events against other schools, including the sprint and long distance run as well as the throwing of the howler. Year Five and Six won gold in the team event whilst Kayleen won gold in the Year Five/Six individual girls and Ethan won gold in the Year Three/Four individual boys. Well done to all of the team, we are so proud of you!

Back in school our Year Two pupils enjoyed a fantastic ‘Forest Friends’ session. In the session the children made their own wooden fidget-spinners which they all enjoyed before Mrs Mellish and Miss Chandler demonstrated how to make a stretcher out of branches and rope which was then demonstrated using children! At the end of the session the children used their homemade fire pit to toast marshmallows.
