There was more excitement down in the Foundation Stage classrooms today as the adults in Robins, Dormice and Hedgehogs welcomed their second group of new starters in the week. The small group of children in each class joined the children who started school yesterday for the morning where they had the opportunity to get to know their teachers and teaching assistants as well as their new surroundings. As part of their morning they toured the school, visiting the farm animals and Mr B in his office where they were amazed by George the tortoise. It was lovely to welcome such lovely children to the Earls Hall family!
Meanwhile, Mr Knight spent the morning teaching 6C over in the pool in their second lesson of their block of four whilst, in Year Three, the children investigated place value of three and four digit numbers. In the afternoon groups of children enjoyed their first ‘Rock Steady’ session of the year where they learnt the electric and bass guitar, drums and keyboard in a group setting.
Whilst Mr B was being delighted by readers from Rabbits and the children in Owls enjoyed a fun PE lesson, the children in Elm used their Forest Friends session to investigated beaches. They created works of art using materials found on the beach and sorted items according to whether they were natural or man made and should or shouldn’t be on the beach.
