The Circle of Life!

It was a day of dance today as the children in Year Two took to the hall in order to perform for proud parents and other family members! For the past few weeks the children have been using their dance lessons to choreograph and perfect a routine to the classic Lion King track ‘Circle of Life’ and today saw them perform their dances to perfection. Having used their Art sessions to make their own dance accessories such as animal masks, each class took to the hall at a different time and danced. The children took on the personas of giraffes, lions, butterflies or elephants with the dances ending in a heart rousing climax. Well done to all of the children for their hard work and thank you to all of the parents who came along to enjoy the performances.

Meanwhile, as the children in Elm used their Forest Friends session to create their own games which they then taught their friends to play, the children in 6C took part in a Maths lesson where they learnt how to budget. Having been given an initial imaginary six hundred pounds, the children had to plan a Jubilee party for a hundred guests and were given a list of the cost of items they may wish to purchase for the celebrations. Mrs Creak discussed with them how to prioritise spending and spend within their means. It was a valuable life lesson!

As the children in Dormice enjoyed a fun library session, down the corridor Simon hosted another round of ‘Rock Steady Workshop’ music sessions where the children perfected their skills on the electric guitar, drums, keyboards and vocals whilst, out on the field, Mr Crooks worked with the children in Beech where they developed their bowling skills in preparation for cricket games.
