It was another busy day at Earls Hall today and one which saw more of our new pupils join their friends in the Foundation Stage as they enjoyed their first day of school. Following the first groups arrivals in Hedgehogs, Robins and Dormice yesterday, more children joined them in class where they explored their new surroundings, played alongside new friends and got to know their teachers and teaching assistants better. It was smashing to see the children settle so well and we are looking forward to filling the classes up throughout the week.
Meanwhile, as the children in Oak enjoyed taking part in number challenges as part of their Maths starters, the children in Willow were looking at the solubility of different materials in water. They carried out a fair test; measuring the water and each different material carefully. Each mixture was stirred twenty times before the children made their observations and recorded their findings in tables.
Our theme of being team players continued in the assemblies today where Mr B and Mr Geach looked at the importance of agreeing to disagree at times when negotiating as a team. There was more team work on show outside as the children in Oak worked together in order to undertake a number of challenges. They classified varieties of plants by delegating tasks and sharing opinions before playing games where they needed to communicate well and build up trust.
After school, the first week of recorders, construction and football clubs took place.
