It was a triumphant start to a new academic year of sports competitions as both the girls and the boys table tennis teams won the Southend borough table tennis competitions for Earls Hall!

The first face to face inter-schools competition held in the town for the past eighteen months was held at Thorpe Hall school where teams from across the town battled it out on the tables. Both teams held their nerves as they played and their win means that Earls Hall remain undefeated as borough champions since 2014, an amazing achievement. Back in school, players from the team went around the classes in order to show the other children their winning shield and there was a sense of pride across the school. Well done to all of our players and to Mr Dorn for once again coaching the children superbly, we are proud of you all!

Meanwhile back in school, as the children from 6J enjoyed their final swimming session of the week over in the pool, a group of children from Year Five took part in a special ‘AOK Club’ mission where they wrote welcome letters to the children of families arriving in Southend from Afghanistan. The children told them in their letters all of the wonderful things about our area in order to reassure them if they felt a bit nervous about their new surroundings.

Throughout the day we held our three ‘Celebration Assemblies’ where a child from each Year One to Six class was awarded an ‘Earls Hall Star’ certificate in recognition of their individual effort or achievement. Well done children, we are proud of you.

As the children in Sycamore took part in a dodgeball lesson on the playground, the PTA hosted their ‘Warm welcome’ tea and cake session for parents new to the school over in the Woodland Diner. It was lovely to see a mixture of familiar and new faces, thanks to everyone who came.
