STONE AGE SENSATIONS!

It was a fantastic day for the children in Year Three today as they travelled back in time to the Stone Age courtesy of a workshop with ‘Portals from the Past’!

Children from Kestrels, Kites and Hawks dressed for the occasion in animal skin themed outfits and, as always, our pupils rose to the challenge of dressing up as part of the fun!

In the hall the children met Stone Age Gary who used the learning they had been experiencing in the classroom to play a series of games and set challenges based on the theme. The children handled artefacts and replicas with Gary being extremely impressed as they distinguished the difference between the two. They acted out scenarios such as hunting for food such as deer and even a wooly mammoth!  Gary and his team noted that they were thrilled by how much knowledge the children had already about the Stone Age and commented that their behaviour throughout the day was a credit to the school. Thank you to the PTA who paid for a highly enjoyable day!

Meanwhile Mr B showed another special visitor around the school. Dr Bevan, the Headteacher of Southend high School for Boys, was shown around all the classes. The children from across our whole age range told him key points of information about Earls Hall and answered his questions.

At the end of the day the ‘After School Club’ was once again a hive of activity. Miss Newman and her team led a series of fun activities including cooking, craft, Lego and fun in the builders tray. The club has different activities on offer each night and with an increased number of staff joining the fun the club is proving more popular than ever!
