It was another busy day at Earls hall which saw the children in Year Two start the morning by investigating the Earth millions of years ago! The children investigated dinosaurs and discovered lots of facts about them. They started by discussing what they already knew about the prehistoric creatures before identifying some of the technical words to describe them as well as the facts. They then drafted sentences about the creatures before improving their writing by including a range of interesting sentence starters.
Later in the day, the children in Year Five continued to design and construct their pull along Victorian toys whilst the children in Oak described their appearance in French. After the French lesson the children were taught how to sign their names using British Sign Language.
After school there was more activity as a team of our boys played football against Chalkwell Junior School. The team played well against their opponents and showed great team spirit throughput. Well done to all of the players, we are proud of you.
In the evening the downstairs hall was full of parents, other family members and friends of the school as the PTA hosted another Quiz Night, this time with a ‘Top of the Pops’ theme. There were general knowledge rounds to test the teams as well as specialist rounds on Elvis, the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and Spice Girls. The music round saw the teams identify artists and song titles and every team scored highly. Well done to ‘Snack Bar’ who triumphed overall with a score of 104. The night raised over £260 for PTA funds, thanks to all the pop pickers who made it along!
