The classrooms in Year One were once again visited by parents on two ocassions today as the adults came into school to watch the children take part in ‘Letters & Sounds’ sessions. The sessions gave the parents the opportunity to see how the children have made progressed this year as well as an opportunity to support the teaching of tricky phonics such as split digraphs. Thanks to everyone who came along.

Later in the day the children in Rabbits took part in a lively Maths lesson which saw them use numicon and 100 squares to subtract 10 from any two digit number.

Elsewhere, after winning the Southend school competition we found ourselves in the Essex finals against the best in the county for indoor athletics.
This is always a very tough competition which sees each athlete competing in a maximum of two track events and 2 field events. It is always difficult to know how we are doing the day as there are two heats and all the races are against the clock but We knew that we had won a few and not fared so well in a couple of others but the children had given their all.
When the results where read out in reverse order starting with 14th place we were very happy to wait till near the end to be called in 3rd place! This really is a tough competition and the team were extremely happy to have gained a podium position.
This just demonstrates how good we are at a varied array of sports here at Earls Hall! Well done to all of the athletes, we are very proud of you!

At the end of the afternoon it was the turn of the children in Badgers to perform to their parents as they danced their own version of ‘Circle of Life’ from ‘The Lion King’. The parents were dazzled by a series of self choreographed moves. Well done to all of the children who performed, we are proud of you, and thanks to all of the parents and other family members who made it along to watch.

The afternoon ended with our girls football team playing a match against a team from Darlinghurst Primary School. It was a good game which saw the girls demonstrate great team spirit. Well done to all of the players, we are proud of you!
