It was another busy day of learning at Earls Hall! The sunshine enhanced the days lessons as children from across the school spent as much time outside as inside.

The discovery of the mysterious mound of earth yesterday resulted in further investigations taking place today. The children in Year One were shocked to uncover a giant bone when they dug in the soil….leading them to decide that they had discovered the remains of a dinosaur!

Meanwhile, outside on the playground, the children from the Foundation Stage took part in the first of their ‘Balanceability’ sessions with the ‘Bikeability’ team. The children used the balance bikes and scooted around, building up their confidence which saw many of them transfer the same skills to pedal bikes.

In the afternoon the children in Hawks investigated the various parts of plants and discovered all about photosynthesis whilst the children in Badgers spent time outside identifying things which were alive, dead or never alive and recording their findings in a table.

Over in the pool Mr knight Badgers continued their busy afternoon by developing their backstroke skills whilst more sporting activity was taking place in the upstairs hall. Mr Smith spends a lot of time trying to introduce children to new sports and games and so today more children took part in sessions where they were joined by Prittlewell Bowls Club. The children played carpet bowls and developed their skills as the sessions progressed. Out on the field the children in Beech took turns to use the shotput before the whole class enjoyed a game of football rounders.

In the afternoon Miss Neal accompanied a team of girls from Year Five and six who represented the school at the Southend Kwik Cricket tournament. Throughout the afternoon the team played Bournes Green, Alleyn Court, Porters Grange and Bournemouth Park and made it through to the quarter finals of the competition. Miss Neal was incredibly impressed with the confident manner in which the girls played and the fantastic team spirit which was on display. Well done to all the team, we are proud of you all!
