It was a fun day at Earls Hall today. The children in Elm made the most of the sunny morning and seized the opportunity to carry out their shadow stick investigation for science.  They were making observations about the apparent movement of the sun across the sky throughout the day and how it affected the length and position of a stick’s shadow.  They made four trips out: one early morning, one late morning, one after lunch and one in the afternoon.  It was cloudy at the third visit, so they were unable to obtain a result.  They noticed that the shadow was longest at the start and end of the day, and shortest around midday.  The shadow also moved in a clockwise direction.

Meanwhile, at the front of the school, the children in Woodpeckers enjoyed a great Forest Friends session. They worked in teams to cut and lob large dead branches which they then used to create large scale shelters. Over in the pool the children in Willow enjoyed the first of their four swimming afternoons where Mr Knight put them through their paces by completing lengths using a variety of strokes.

In our new outdoor cabin classroom more children enjoyed ‘RockSteady’ workshop sessions where children from the same classes developed their vocals, electric guitar and bass guitar skills whilst the children in Owls and Foxes put the finishing touches to their castle creations and the children in Aspen developed their rolling techniques in the upstairs hall.
