It was a busy last day in school before the half term break. In the morning the children in 6J became games inventors as they worked in pairs to create their own board games. Having designed the game layouts they had to devise rules before presenting how their games worked to the rest of the children.

It was an exciting day for Mr Smith as he was interrupted whilst on duty by a crowd of children and staff at playtime; all eager to wish him a happy birthday. Mr Smith celebrates his 50th birthday in the half term break and was therefore treated to a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ by everyone before being presented with a present from all of his friends on the team. Happy birthday to the best sports coach anyone could wish to meet!

In Elm class, the children had to concentrate in order to create some stunning stuffed creatures, all sewn together using running stitches. The creatures were created to be part of a Michael Morpurgo display based on his book ‘The Day I Met a Whale’ and were fantastic!  Meanwhile, the children in 6J designed their own crests which they will also use stitching to create when making their own Tudor pillows after the half term break.

Throughout the day contractors were on site as they began erecting a new fence at the bottom of the field where the swimming pool car park meets the field whilst, in the pool itself, the children in Badgers swam lengths with confidence.

On the field, the children in Foxes developed their skipping skills with some of the pupils even challenging Mr Geach to a skipping race whilst Mr Smith worked with the children in Kites on the track in order to develop their relaying skills.

In the nature garden the children in rabbits were once again treated to a visit from Koda the therapy trained dog and his owner Miss Drew. The children visited Koda in pairs and read their reading books to him and all involved loved every minute of the afternoon!
