It may have been a non-pupil teacher training day today but that didn’t stop there being plenty of Earls Hall action taking place, both at school and on the sporting front!

At Garons, Mr Smith and Mrs Thorne were accompanied by a group of dedicated children from KS2 who gave up their non-pupil day in order to represent the school at the Southend Quad kids competition. The competition saw each child from the Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 team throw, jump, sprint and run long distance against pupils from a host of other schools. The children were up against some stiff competition but performed brilliantly and the competition saw Ethan placed third and Will placed first in the 5/6 boys and Kayleen placed first in the 5/6 girls. Alexis was placed third and Zoe placed second in the 3/4 girls. Overall the teams both came an amazing first place which was an amazing result! Well done to Mr smith and to all of the children who took part, we are so proud of you!

Meanwhile, back in school, all Mrs rick needed was a turquoise jump suit and  she could have been mistaken for Anneka Rice; such was the hive of activity in school! The day saw work begin on part one of the dining hall refurbishment which saw the workmen rip out the broken heating system and replace them with new radiators and a new custom made boiler system. Some of the metal framed windows were removed and replaced with spanking new PVC frames and by the end of the week the transformation should be stunning. In the car park the old barrier was removed in order for new gates, fencing and CCTV to be installed next week whilst down by the swimming pool a new wooden fence, separating the car park from the field was erected. On the field, the broken play equipment was beginning to be fixed whilst the site managers spent the day painting.
