It was a lovely day at Earls Hall today! The morning started with the children in KS1 coming together to take part in a singing assembly. Mr B played his guitar as the children sang ‘In the Jungle’, ‘Sandy Land’ and ‘Clap your Hands’. Some children volunteered to lead the actions to the songs and a jolly time was had by all.

In the morning Mrs Critoph and Mrs Crouch accompanied a group of children from Badgers as they took part in an ‘AOK Club’ mission. The children spent time at Edward Bears Pre-School group where they modelled positive play with the toddlers and were fantastic representatives of the school. Our Deputy Heads were delighted to present the children with their special badges back at school in recognition of their kindness. Well done children, we are proud of you!

Throughout the day the children in Year Five took part in special ‘Walk It’ sessions where they ventured out onto the local streets in order to learn about road safety. The children took turns to cross the roads safely, listening and looking the whole time for traffic, and became aware of how to choose the best place to cross in order to avoid cars and other vehicles.

At lunchtime the Woodland Diner saw a number of members of the teaching staff join well behaved children to dine before Mr B listened to children read, today from Badgers and Hedgehogs. Mr B was thrilled with the enthusiasm the children showed!

In the afternoon a group of children represented the school at the Quiz Club Maths competition. The children were accompanied by Mrs Joyce as they were pitted against other school teams from across Essex. It was the first time Earls Hall have entered the competition and, despite the Maths questions being very challenging, the children came a magnificent second place making them the most successful Southend school there today. Well done children, we are proud of you!

There was more pride on show as a group of Year Five children represented the school at the Southend cricket tournament. The children played really well, winning two matches but losing three, and lots of team spirit was on display. Well done children, we are proud of you!
