It was an exciting start to the last week of the half term this morning! the morning began with the children in Foundation Stage and KS1 being joined in the downstairs hall by proud parents and other family members as they gathered together in order to celebrate the effort and achievement of our latest ‘Reading Champions’. Mr B was assisted by some of the teaching assistants to present the children with their bronze, silver and gold badges which they earned for reading twenty five, fifty and one hundred times at home. Thank you to all of the family members for coming along and well done to all of the children, we are proud of you!
Later in the morning the children in KS2 also celebrated the achievements of their very own champions as our table tennis teams shared their successes at the weekend. Both the boys and girls teams took part in the Southern Regional Finals which were held in Bristol. The children heard that the boys came third and the girls came first and both teams were given a huge round of applause! At the end of the assembly more ‘Reading Champions’ badges were presented to the children from across the KS2 classes. Well done children, we are proud of you!
In the afternoon the children in Owls investigated the Jewish festival of Tu Bishvat which has developed into an ecological holiday that reminds Jews of our connection to the earth and to our role as caretakers of the environment whilst the children in Year Six investigated the various faiths which believe in reincarnation.
After the school the downstairs hall was a hive of energy as Miss Cracknell hosted her funky Streetdance club!
