It was a rainy May day at times today but that didn’t stop the children in the Foundation Stage enjoying a great time learning outside in the Early Years garden! Togged up appropriately, the children enjoyed discovering how wet mud is the best mud to play with whilst also showing fascination by how the worms and other bugs reacted to the pitter-patter of raindrops. Back in the classrooms, some children worked as a team to create some magnificent construction models of a ‘zoo-farm’using Duplo and Lego.

Inside, the nautical theme that has been sweeping across KS1 continued as the children in Year One were inspired by the sounds of a sea shanty! The session involved the children choreographing their own  impressive dance moves to the shanty before developing their understanding of rhythm using a range of percussion instruments which they loved!

In Woodpeckers the children have been monitoring the life cycle of butterflies and, as their own butterflies are now formed, were inspired to create their own origami models of them and also wrote stories about butterflies.

Down the corridor, the children in Year Two were identifying continents and countries in relation to the equator whilst also using coordinates to create their own maps.

Over in the pool Mr Knight enjoyed teaching Oak and Aspen for the third of their four swimming lessons of the week whilst in the upstairs hall the children in Year Five took part in the virtual archery tournament being held between primary schools across the borough.
