Push, Pull & Pop Ups!

It was another busy day at Earls Hall and one which saw the children in Kites begin to investigate forces. The children worked in groups to identify what they already knew about pushes and pulls as well as friction before putting their knowledge to the test by setting up a car and ramp investigation. The children predicted and tested a variety of cars and vehicles on a series of different surfaces and measured how far each car travelled when given an equal push at the top of the ramp. Each time the children carried out a test they had to compare it to their earlier prediction.

Meanwhile, as the children in the Cabin developed their knowledge of times tables, the children in Foundation Stage and Year One followed individual interests which saw some play with the construction toys whilst others followed instructions in order to build models or take part in role play activities.

As the children in Foxes continued to develop their allotment designs as individuals or in pairs, the children in Sycamore worked with Mr Crooks in the hall in order to develop their ability to complete a continuous run.

As the children in Willow put the finishing touches to their willow pattern cloths by creating their patterns with a variety of stitches, the children in Elm began investigating pop up books. They looked closely at the way the books had been folded and compared them to each other in order to gain ideas for their own design.
