It was an exciting day for Mrs Howard and the children in the Cabin today as they welcomed three new faces to their group in the form of our new guinea pigs. The children were introduced to their new pets by Mrs Clarke, who they had been bought from, who told them all about how to care for the animals. The children then helped settle their new furry friends into their indoor hutch before thinking of possible names for them. Once a shortlist of names had been created, the group voted on their three favourites and plumped for Popcorn, Lilac and Saffy. Next week the children will use their English lessons to research how to look after the guinea pigs before writing a care plan for them. Throughout the day our latest four legged friends were visited by staff and some children from various classes and there were plenty of opportunities for cuddles. It will be the responsibility of the children working in the Cabin to look after the pets on a daily basis and, judging from the care they showed them today, they will thrive in their new home.
Meanwhile, throughout the day the children from Years One to Six took part in our weekly ‘Celebration Assemblies’ where Earls Hall stars certificates were presented to individual children in recognition of their effort and achievement. Well done children, we are proud of you!
In the afternoon, the learning ambassadors for the past week met with Mrs Irwin, one of the school governors, to feedback to her about the learning which has taken place across the school since Monday. The children answered questions about the activities they had taken part in and Mrs Irwin was impressed by how much they had remembered. Well done children, we are proud of you.
At the end of the day, as Mr Hadley hosted another cycling club on the playground, the downstairs hall played host to the PTA uniform sale where parents were able to purchase pre-loved items at reasonable prices.
Today saw us bid a fond farewell to the lovely Mrs Bates as she finished her role as an HLTA after two years with us in order to start a new career path training as a mental health nurse. the team presented her with some flowers at lunchtime and wished her the very best of luck. Mrs Bates has been a wonderful and much loved member of the team and her talents have been very much appreciated by children, staff and the parents who have worked with her. Good luck Mrs Bates and thank you!
