Pool Progress!

It was a great end to another week at Earls Hall! The day saw Mr B and Miss Cracknell represent the school at this years Healthy Schools Award ceremony held at the Tickfield centre. The socially distanced and covid safe ceremony saw the schools achievement as an enhanced healthy school recognised as Miss Cracknell collected our new trophy. The ceremony also saw us being awarded as a leading school for emotional health and wellbeing, a trophy for which was presented to a proud Mr B who collected it on behalf of the whole team. The award was in recognition of the various ways in which, as a school, we have supported the mental health and emotional needs of the children, parents and staff over the last couple of years. Well done everybody!

There were lots of proud moments over in the pool today as the children from Robins and Woodpeckers proudly displayed the progress which they have made over the course of their block of lessons this week. The children took to the pool with confidence with many children abandoning float aids and swimming widths on their backs, well done children!

On the playground, the children in Elm were learning about how sound waves travel through the air towards their ear.  They discovered through investigation that if they put their hand around their ear they were ‘catching’ the sound waves and directing them into their ear so that they could hear more easily.  They also found out that if they put their hands around their mouth they could direct the sound from their voice box.

Outside on the field there was lots of activity as various classes practised their racing skills for next weeks sports days whilst, at the end of the day, the children in Squirrels enjoyed a story under the shade of the trees and the children from Sycamore took part in a drama lesson where they acted out key plot lines from their class text, ‘Holes’.
