It was a very special day at Earls Hall today as we celebrated the unique achievements of four children through the presentations of special awards. ‘The George Taylor Award’ is presented in recognition of a quality or achievement in two children whilst the governor award is of the same criteria but for two children as they leave Year six. The children end their time in their key stage being presented with a trophy to take home. Their names are also engraved for all to see forever more on the plaque which hangs outside the school office.

Mr Taylor, George, was a very special man. He was part of the Earls Hall governing body for decades and chair for many of them. He loved everything about our school and was a champion for all that we aimed to achieve for the children, believing wholeheartedly that personal growth should be recognised in equal measure to academic attainment.  Sadly George passed away fifteen years ago and every year since then the award has been presented in his name. The awards this year were presented to Masiko and Casey with the governor awards being presented to Sanuvi and Henry. Mr Stanton joined us in assembly to present the governor awards and we were also joined by Mr Taylors daughter and grandson who presented the KS1 award. Well done children, we are proud of you!

Later, in the afternoon, the children in Year One enjoyed a special party out on the field. At the party they wished Mrs McMillan a special happy birthday for the summer but also used the party to celebrate everything about the much loved Mr Cann who is leaving us tomorrow after eight happy years at Earls Hall. Whilst the children munched on cake, Mr Cann was presented with cards made by each class before being given three cheers.

At the end of the afternoon, the downstairs hall played host to our final ‘Rock Steady’ concert of the year. Our bands performed on their various instruments in front of proud parents and other family members who loved every minute of the show. Well done children, we are proud of you!
