The downstairs hall was rocking this afternoon as it played host to another concert put on by the excellent bands who attend the ‘Rock Steady Workshops’! Introduced in turn by Lewis, the band leader who works with the children each week, three bands performed in front of proud parents and other family members as well as the classes from Year Five who were invited along to witness the skills of the children.
The children, who work with Lewis every Tuesday, played drums, keyboards, electric guitars, bass guitars or sang and each and every one of them showed the progress which they had made since last terms concert. The weekly workshops give children the opportunity to learn a range of instruments in a collaborative setting, testing out different instruments until they find the one which suits them. It was smashing to see the children enjoy themselves so much whilst rocking out at the front of the hall. Well done children, we are proud of you. Thanks to all of the family members who came along to show their support.
Earlier in the day, as the children in Hedgehogs enjoyed making a series of Easter themed crafts and the children in Year Five evaluated their cams toys, the children in Year Two made a range of unique and creative kites. Linked to their class text ‘The Secret Sky Garden, the children developed their measuring, cutting, scoring and joining skills in order to complete the challenge of each making a strong kite which they then tested outside.
