Brilliant Barleylands!

It was a brilliant day for the children in Year Two today as they ventured out of school in order to enjoy a fabulous day out at Barleylands Farm! The aim of the day was to find out how pizzas are made and so spent the day investigating how each part of a pizza is made from the seeds of the vegetables to the harvest of the crops. Along the way, they saw many animals and even had a ride on a tractor. They also helped use all of the ingredients they had seen growing to make their very own pizza to take home. It was a wonderful day, thank you to all of the parent helpers who came along for the fun!

Meanwhile, back in school, as a group of children beautifully represented the school at the KS2 Panathlon, there was more animal fun as the children in Robins continued to show an interest in everything furry and feathered. As part of their interest they decided to throw a party for Mabel, the school dog. They wrote invitations for Mabel and delivered them to her with the message that the party would begin at 2pm. Mabel arrived on the dot and everybody had the chance to cuddle her before learning all about the different ways she needs to be cared for. A group of children then took her out for a walk before home time and our four legged member of the team loved every second of her time with the children. After school there was more animal fun, this time of a less furry variety, as the children spent time in their zookeepers club investigating snakes up close by having them wrapped around their bodies.

Further way, the children in Aspen enjoyed their second day at Wat Tyler Park where, following a hearty breakfast, the children took part in shelter building challenges and archery. It was a fantastic end to what has been a successful week for Year Four. Throughout the whole week of trips, staff have been approached by members of the public time and time again all keen to praise the children for their excellent behaviour which has made all of the team beyond proud!
