It was as busy as usual today with the children starting the day with two fantastic assemblies. The KS1 assembly saw Mr B tell the story of a boy called Brian whose family all had their own ideas about what profession he would be good at as an adult. The children thought about their own aspirations and shared them with each other. Careers the children were interested in ranged from a marine biologist to a politician!

At the end of the assembly the children were treated to a performance on the piano by Monica from Foxes. Her piano skills were phenomenal and were greeted with a huge round of applause!

Later , in the upstairs hall, the KS2 children were also treated to a performance from Monica before Mrs Robinson announced the results of the school chess championship. The children were told about the various games and the skills demonstrated before congratulating Abhijay on his tremendous win!

After that, Mr B explained to the children the results and impact of the EU referendum. He explained the decision to leave the EU and the leadership challenges taking place within the parties as a result. He explained that the next prime minister would definitely be a woman and reminded them that the only previous female PM had been Margaret Thatcher.

Throughout the morning in the hall the children in Year Six took part in basic first aid training delivered by the team from St Johns Ambulance. The children developed their understanding of how to assist people if they are injured and even put each other in the recovery position.

The afternoon saw Mr B chair the final ‘Family Council’ meeting of the year. The council reviewed the progress of the school since September and gave Mr B feedback on possible ways to improve the school in the new academic year.

Later in the day, after school, the whole building was full of proud family members as they joined the children at this years ‘Open Evening’. The evening was a chance for families to celebrate the progress of the children by looking at their work in books, on displays and by talking to teachers. Each room saw a steady stream of families attend and was a fantastic celebration of the schools achievements since September. Thank you to everyone who came along!
